GEORGE SMITH 

George is the brains behind Midsummer Marketing, having founded it in 1988. But more importantly, George is the heart of Midsummer Marketing. He is as passionate about growing clients’ businesses as he was when he started, perhaps more so now as he is only too keenly aware of the challenges faced by growers and exporters in today’s ever-changing markets and economies.

With experience in 35 international markets, his strength lies in market and new business development, B2B customer interface, trade relations and retail platform activities.

And whilst markets change, George believes that Midsummer’s vision remains the same and that is to bring together growers, shippers, importers and final mile distributors in a seamless chain to the benefit of all.

JOSEFINA SMITH

Josefina joined in 2002 when, together with George, they incorporated Midsummer Marketing as a limited company. She brings to Midsummer her marketing expertise and agency experience having been president of a company in the Philippines that represented the Washington Apple Commission and the California Table Grape Commission.

Josefina’s strength is in B2C marketing. She is credited with introducing online marketing for Florida Grapefruit and Northwest Cherries in retailers’ e-commerce sites. She is also in charge of managing agency in the delivery of the social media programme for Florida Grapefruit.

MARIZEL AGUIRRE

Marizel is the team's communications and event management expert. She brings to Midsummer her vast international experience gained from working at marketing and events for The Economist and more recently, as a PR Manager for Gruppo Campari, a major player in the global spirits company, where she was responsible for planning and implementing the communication strategy for the company’s lifestyle products at both brand and corporate level. This included organising high calibre events, managing collaboration with other premium products and building and sustaining relationships with the brands’ ambassadors.
